Of course, I love beautiful hotels.

I never say no to a long lunch overlooking the Mediterranean.

And I will probably never stop chasing the perfect sunset.

But if you really want to understand a place...

Go where everyday life happens.

Go where locals shop.

Go where conversations begin.

Go where the seasons quietly reveal themselves.

For me, that place has always been the local market.

No matter where I travel in the world, it’s usually my first stop.

Not because I’m looking for the best tomatoes or the freshest cheese—although that’s often a wonderful bonus—but because markets tell stories.

Stories that no travel brochure ever will.

You learn what people cook.

What flowers are in season.

Which fisherman came back early that morning.

Which olive oil has been made by the same family for generations.

You hear accents.

You discover traditions.

You start seeing a destination not as a visitor...

but as someone who has been invited, even if only for a morning, into everyday life.

Since calling the French Riviera home, one of my favorite weekly rituals has become wandering through the Provençal market in Valbonne on Friday mornings.

Some weeks I leave with a basket full of fruit and vegetables.

Other weeks I leave with nothing but a wonderful conversation.

And sometimes, those conversations lead me somewhere unexpected.

To a family-run olive oil producer.

To a hidden ceramic workshop.

To an artisan whose family has been working with wood for three generations.

To a fisherman who still knows every corner of the coastline.

Those are the places I remember.

Those are the stories I want to tell.

Because I believe the Riviera is at its most beautiful when you slow down enough to discover the people who quietly give it its soul.

The cheesemaker who has been at the same market for twenty years.

The woman weaving baskets by hand.

The small vineyard hidden behind the hills.

The boat captain who knows where the water turns emerald just before sunset.

The family restaurant that still serves the catch of the day exactly as it did decades ago.

These are the places that rarely appear on the front page of a travel guide.

Yet they are often the ones we remember long after we return home.

Since 2020, I’ve had the privilege of accompanying French and international buyers looking for a home on the French Riviera.

Some were searching for a holiday apartment.

Others were relocating with their families.

Some were investing.

Others were looking for the place where they’d spend the next chapter of their lives.

Over the years, I’ve visited hundreds of properties, walked through countless villages and spent hours listening to what people thought they wanted...

before helping them discover what they were actually looking for.

And one lesson has stayed with me more than any other.

People rarely buy the wrong house.

They buy the right house...

in the wrong place.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of walking through hundreds of homes with buyers from all over the world.

Some were looking for a holiday apartment they had dreamed about for years.

Others wanted to leave a busy city behind.

Some imagined long summers with grandchildren.

Others were searching for a completely new beginning.

Although every story was different, I noticed something surprising.

Almost everyone started with the same question.

“Can you show us the best properties?”

And almost every time, I found myself gently asking a different one.

“Before we look at houses... tell me about the life you’re hoping to create here.”

That conversation almost always changed everything.

Working in real estate has taught me that buying on the Riviera isn’t simply about finding a beautiful property.

It’s about understanding the market, the villages, the seasons, the legal process and, perhaps most importantly, the lifestyle each place quietly offers.

A home here is rarely just a purchase.

It’s a long-term decision about how you want to live.

Buying a home on the French Riviera isn’t simply about choosing a property.

It’s about choosing a rhythm.

A village.

A community.

A way of spending your mornings.

The truth is that two beautiful homes can offer completely different lives.

One might overlook the sea but require driving everywhere.

Another might sit quietly in a village where you walk to the bakery every morning.

Neither is better.

They’re simply made for different people.

Over time, I realised that buyers rarely regret choosing the wrong kitchen.

Or the wrong flooring.

What they remember is something much less visible.

They regret discovering too late that the neighbourhood didn’t suit their daily life.

That the beautiful sea view came with constant summer traffic.

That the charming village became almost empty during winter.

That the restaurant they loved was only open three months a year.

The best property decisions are rarely made inside the house itself.

They’re made outside it.

Whenever I begin working with someone, I spend surprisingly little time talking about houses.

Instead, I ask questions that sometimes catch people off guard.

Do you imagine walking to the market?

Or waking up to the sea?

Do you enjoy lively villages...

or complete silence?

Will your grandchildren visit often?

Do you want cafés around the corner...

or olive trees outside your window?

Are you looking for an investment...

or somewhere your family will gather for years to come?

These answers matter far more than the number of bedrooms.

Because properties can be changed.

Life around them is much harder to redesign.

International buyers often arrive with a map.

They’ve highlighted Saint-Tropez.

Cannes.

Antibes.

Nice.

Sometimes Mougins or Saint-Paul-de-Vence.

Those places are absolutely wonderful.

But the Riviera is also full of quieter villages that rarely appear on international wish lists.

Places where neighbours still greet each other.

Where local markets remain part of everyday life.

Where mornings begin more slowly.

Sometimes the perfect home isn’t in the village you’ve been dreaming about.

It’s in the one you’ve never heard of.

Another misconception I see quite often is the belief that finding the perfect property means finding a perfect house.

In reality...

there isn’t one.

Every home asks for a compromise.

The question isn’t:

“Is this the perfect house?”

The better question is:

“Is this the right life?”

When buyers answer that honestly, decisions become surprisingly clear.

Living on the Riviera is also different depending on the season.

July isn’t January.

August isn’t October.

A village that feels wonderfully lively in summer may become beautifully peaceful in winter.

Some people love that.

Others don’t.

Understanding how a place changes throughout the year is often just as important as understanding the property itself.

It’s one of the reasons local knowledge matters so much.

Not because it replaces your own instinct.

But because it helps you ask questions you may never have thought to ask.

One of the greatest advantages of working locally over several years is developing trusted relationships.

Architects.

Notaries.

Mortgage brokers.

Property professionals.

Craftsmen.

Yacht specialists.

People who make the buying journey smoother long after the keys have been handed over.

Buying a property is never just about the transaction.

It’s about everything that comes next.

Perhaps that’s why I don’t think my role has ever been about opening doors.

Not because I’ve found an extraordinary villa.

But because a house has quietly made me wonder about the people who live inside.

Long before I worked in real estate, I was fascinated by homes.

Not as investments.

Not as architecture.

As stories.

Every home says something.

Some whisper.

Others announce themselves loudly!

Some invite you in before you’ve even reached the front gate.

Others remain beautifully mysterious.

I’ve never believed that beautiful homes are defined by their size.

Or their price.

Or their address.

If that were true, we would all remember the biggest houses we’ve ever visited.

But we don’t.

We remember the ones that made us feel something.

There’s a house I often drive past on my way through the hills.

It isn’t remarkable.

At least, not in the way property magazines usually define remarkable.

No impressive gates.

No infinity pool visible from the road.

No dramatic entrance.

Just pale stone walls that have slowly softened under decades of Mediterranean sunlight.

Blue-grey shutters that have faded unevenly.

An old olive tree leaning slightly towards the driveway, as if welcoming everyone who arrives.

Every spring, climbing roses cover part of the façade.

By late summer, lavender spills gently onto the path.

I’ve never met the owners.

I’ve never even seen anyone outside.

And yet, every single time I pass, I find myself imagining the life unfolding inside.

Someone is probably making coffee in a quiet kitchen.

Someone opens those shutters every morning without really thinking about it anymore.

Someone has watched children grow up in those rooms.

Someone planted that olive tree years before anyone imagined Instagram would exist!

Homes quietly collect lives.

Perhaps that’s what we’re really responding to.

Not the building.

The feeling that life has happened there.

Living on the Riviera has changed the way I think about beauty.

At first, I noticed spectacular views.

The sea stretching endlessly towards the horizon.

Sunsets that seemed almost too perfect to be real.

Luxury villas balanced dramatically above the coastline.

It was impossible not to be impressed.

But slowly, almost without noticing, my attention shifted.

Today, it’s often the smallest details that stop me.

An old ceramic bowl left outside after watering the plants.

A bicycle leaning against a stone wall.

Fresh herbs growing beside the kitchen door.

A table already set for dinner long before guests arrive.

These aren’t decorations.

They’re clues.

Little glimpses into someone’s everyday life.

And somehow, they’re infinitely more interesting than perfection.

Perhaps that’s because perfection feels finished.

Real homes never are.

They’re constantly changing.

A new chair discovered at a flea market.

A lemon tree planted after returning from Italy.

Books slowly taking over every available shelf.

Children’s drawings taped to the refrigerator.

A dog choosing the same sunny corner every afternoon…

The Mediterranean has always understood this.

Homes here rarely feel staged.

They feel lived in.

Doors remain open.

Neighbours stop to chat.

Lunch unexpectedly becomes dinner.

Life spills outdoors for most of the year.

The house simply becomes another room of the garden.

Or perhaps the garden becomes another room of the house.

It’s difficult to know where one ends and the other begins.

I think that’s one of the reasons Mediterranean homes feel so peaceful.

They breathe.

People often ask me what I look for when I walk into a property.

It’s an understandable question.

They expect me to mention natural light.

Orientation.

Architecture.

Views.

And of course, those things matter.

But they aren’t usually the first things I notice.

The first thing I notice is something much harder to describe.

I ask myself one simple question.

“Would I want to slow down here?”

Not work.

Not entertain.

Not photograph it.

Simply...

slow down.

Could I imagine reading here while rain falls softly outside?

Could I imagine making coffee barefoot on a quiet Sunday morning?

Could I imagine forgetting what time it is?

The homes that stay with me are almost always the ones where the answer is yes.

I sometimes think we’ve become very good at buying houses.

But perhaps we’ve forgotten how to choose homes.

One is measured in square meters.

The other is measured in feelings.

One appears on a floor plan.

The other reveals itself gradually.

One can be estimated.

The other can’t.

I’ve visited extraordinary properties that left me completely untouched.

I’ve also walked into tiny village houses where everything felt immediately right.

Nothing logical explained it.

It simply felt like somewhere life could unfold beautifully.

I’ve learned to trust that feeling.

Maybe that’s why RivieraBliss will never simply be about beautiful properties.

There are already countless websites listing exceptional homes.

What interests me is something much quieter.

The morning light spilling across a Provençal kitchen. The scent of rosemary carried in through open windows. A garden slowly waking up with the day.

The sound of cicadas drifting through open windows…

Gardens planted for grandchildren rather than photographs.

The rituals that slowly transform a house into a memory.

Because I don’t believe people truly fall in love with walls.

I think they fall in love with the life they imagine living between them.

And perhaps...

that’s the greatest luxury the Mediterranean has to offer.

Not extraordinary houses.

But ordinary mornings...

The light falling differently across the hills.A market that wasn’t there the week before.The smell of jasmine drifting through an open window.

A handwritten sign pointing towards a village you’ve promised yourself you’ll visit “one day.”

Sometimes I keep driving.Sometimes I turn.Last Tuesday, I turned.

The village wasn’t new.I’d been there before.More than once.

Yet somehow it felt completely different.Perhaps you’ve noticed this too.

Places have a curious way of changing, even when they stay exactly the same!

The village hadn’t changed.

I had.

I arrived before most cafés had finished putting their chairs outside.Someone was watering flowers from a balcony above the square.A delivery van stopped in front of the bakery.

The smell of warm bread escaped into the street long before the doors officially opened.An elderly man slowly crossed the square carrying nothing more than a newspaper under his arm.

Nobody seemed to be rushing.Nobody seemed to be performing for visitors.

Life was simply... happening.

Quietly.

Naturally.

Beautifully.

I ordered a tea and sat down without opening my phone.One tea became two…

An hour disappeared without me noticing.

Nothing extraordinary happened.

And somehow, that’s exactly what made the morning unforgettable.

People often ask me which village they should visit when they come to the French Riviera.

It’s probably one of the questions I receive most often.

Should we go to Saint-Paul-de-Vence?

Or Mougins?

Is Èze worth it?

What about Valbonne?

Which one is your favourite?

For years, I tried answering that question.Now I usually smile.

Because I don’t think there is a single answer.

Choosing a village isn’t like choosing a museum.

It’s much closer to choosing a book.Or a piece of music.

Or even a friend…

Some villages are lively and full of conversation.Others ask you to lower your voice without even realising it.

Some invite long lunches that somehow become dinner.Others make you want to wander without looking at a map.

Some feel creative.Others feel contemplative.

Some belong to the sea.Others belong to the hills.

Every one has a different rhythm.

And perhaps that’s what makes this coastline so endlessly fascinating.

I sometimes think we make the same mistake with places that we make with people.

We ask whether they’re beautiful.

When perhaps we should be asking whether they make us feel something.

I’ve visited villages that appear on every travel guide.Some left me completely indifferent.

I’ve also stopped in places I’d never planned to visit, only to find myself thinking about them months later.

Not because of a famous monument.

Or a spectacular view.

But because of a simple moment.

Fresh apricots bought at a tiny market.Church bells echoing through empty streets…

An old woman arranging lavender outside her front door.

Children cycling home after school.

A conversation with a bookseller that lasted longer than expected.

Travel has taught me that memories rarely announce themselves while they’re happening.

They become memories quietly.

Almost without permission.

Living here has slowly changed the way I travel.

Or perhaps it has changed the way I pay attention.

I no longer feel the need to see everything.

In fact, I often find myself doing exactly the opposite.

I stay longer.I order another tea.

I take the longer road home…

I walk down streets simply because I’ve never walked down them before.

I’ve learned that curiosity has a much better sense of direction than any itinerary ever could.

Perhaps that’s also the philosophy behind RivieraBliss.

This isn’t a place where I’ll try to convince you to visit every village on the Riviera.

That would be impossible.

Instead, I hope to introduce you to their personalities.

To their stories.

To the people who quietly give them their character.

The baker who has been opening the shop before sunrise for forty years.

The florist who knows exactly when peonies arrive each spring.

The family who turned an old stone farmhouse into a beautiful hotel.

The architect restoring forgotten homes.

The fisherman who still measures time by the sea rather than by a watch…

Those are the Riviera stories I’m most interested in collecting.

Because places are never just places.

They’re people.

Habits.

Conversations.

Light.

Smells.

Small rituals repeated for generations!

I sometimes wonder if that’s what home really is.

Not the place where we live.

But the place whose rhythm slowly becomes our own.

Maybe that’s why I no longer try to answer the question,

“Which village should I visit?”

Instead, I’d rather ask another one.

“What kind of life are you hoping to experience while you’re here?”

I have a feeling the answer to that question will always lead you to the right place.

And perhaps...

that’s the most beautiful way to discover the Riviera.

These moments quietly become attached to places.And before we realise it, those places become part of who we are…

Living on the French Riviera has taught me something I didn’t expect.The places that people talk about the most aren’t always the ones that leave the deepest impression.

Sometimes the opposite is true.The places that stay with me are often the ones I almost didn’t visit.A road I nearly didn’t take.A restaurant I hadn’t booked…

A village I stopped in because I had no particular plan.A beach that wasn’t on anyone’s list.I’ve learned to trust those moments.

They’re rarely disappointing.

Perhaps that’s why I don’t think of RivieraBliss as a travel guide.I think of it as a collection of places that have quietly earned their place in my memory.

Some of them are hotels.Some are homes.Some are gardens.Some are boats.Some are restaurants.Some are simply moments that happened somewhere beautiful.

Little by little, I’ll be sharing them here.Not because they’re perfect.

And every single time, I find myself asking the same question:

Over the years, I’ve realised that this question has shaped almost everything I’ve done.
Long before RivieraBliss existed, I had already spent years searching for beautiful places—not necessarily the most luxurious ones, but the ones that felt authentic.

Places with soul.
A small family-run hotel where the owner still remembers your name.
A hidden cove that isn’t marked on most maps.
A village bakery that has been making the same bread for generations.
A garden that quietly reminds you how healing nature can be.
A house where every room tells a story.
A boat that doesn’t promise extravagance, but offers something much rarer: an unforgettable day at sea with the people you love.
I’ve always believed that these are the experiences we remember. Not because they are expensive, but because they make us feel something.

For a long time, I wasn’t quite sure how all the different chapters of my own life connected together.
Fashion. Interior design. Hospitality. Real estate. Yachting. Travel.
Looking back, I realise they were all leading me here.

People often think they are buying a house, booking a hotel or chartering a yacht. In reality, they are searching for a feeling: a slower life, a beautiful morning, a family memory, a place where they finally feel at home.

That is what has always fascinated me.

I wanted to create something slower, more personal and more thoughtful.
A place where I can share not only beautiful destinations, but the people behind them.

The hotels I’d happily return to.
The restaurants worth driving an extra hour for.
The villages I never get tired of.
